Blacklisted: Summary & Links to Full Stories of What Happened 2001 - 2008

I used to be offered as much employment as I wanted as a special needs teacher for Emotionally & Behaviourally Disturbed (EBD) kids at some of the toughest schools in and around Brighton UK.

March 2001 Telscombe Cliffs School threw me out of school for being transgender (definition here). The head teacher Andrew Kearsey admitted in a phone call that he got rid of me because "parents complained".

October 2001 the school organised a letter writing campaign attacking my reputation. I haven't been able to get any teaching jobs ever since, despite trying with agencies and directly with schools. In 2007 an Employment Tribunal, funded by the government's equality champion, judged I am "widely blacklisted" by the educational establishment including by Brighton & Hove City Council.

November 2001 the National Union of Teachers supported Telscombe Cliffs School's writing hate campaign. When I tried to complain in 2003 they lied to me and refused to hear my complaints. So I lodged tribunal claims against them. The Tribunal then recruited the President of UNISON to hear, and then reject my claims. I tried to complain becuase the hearing was bent, but the tribunal service refused to listen.

February 2004 I first found out via the Data Protection Act (DPA) that Teaching Personnel Ltd. - the same recruitment agency that had booked me at Telscombe Cliffs School - had marked my personnel records "Blacklisted".

October 2004 I first found out - via a late & back-dated DPA response - that Tideway School had secretly colluded with Select Education Plc. - another recruitment agency - to mark my employment record "non-preferred". The agency say the school told them to do this but the school deny all knowledge: a blatant cowardly plot to keep me out of school despite working there without complaint before in 2001.

August 2005 I lodged claims at a Tribunal challenging these agencies in 2004 but was blocked and all my claims were struck-out in by the South East Regional Chair Mr R Peters' due to his extreme prejudice of me: -

April 2007 I first found out that Teaching Personnel Ltd. had secretly set up an "off line data base" to "Blacklist" me in February 2003, which illegally they had not disclosed in my 2004 DPA request. Actual letters and documents exist with the word "blacklisted" (definition here) printed on them.

July 2007 in another Tribunal case against Brighton & Hove City Council I was represented by the government's equality champion, which forced the Tribunal service give me a fair hearing that we won. However they reduced my compensation by 75% wrongly assuming that Mr Peters had not struck-out my claims against the Educational Establishment that has "widely blacklisted" me.

I’ve been trying for years to get honest answers to why Schools, Local Education Authorities, Employment Agencies, regulatory bodies, newspapers, and the tribunal service in the UK don't want me to work as a teacher in schools any more. I've used their own procedures to try to establish responsibility, accountability and transparency. But these channels don't work and using them has caused me terrible stress and ill health...
